Working Together

To Save Lives

Message From PDFSD President, Nicole Mcneil

Greetings!  I would like to thank each one of you for helping make 2022 a big success.  As we enter the holiday season and people all over the world will be supporting the organizations they care about, I am so honored you’ve chosen to support the Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego (PDFSD).  Your continued generosity has helped create a continuum of water safety programs that provide access to life-saving skills and a pipeline for aquatic employment.

This past year, PDFSD ramped up parent and toddler swimming workshops, dryland education, and swimming lessons for school children and nonprofit groups.  We bridged safety lessons at the pools to the open water by introducing more individuals to open water safety education and programs.  We provided Junior Lifeguard scholarships, Junior Pool Guard swimming lessons, Pool Guard Recruit swimming lessons, Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification courses, and intergenerational swimming lessons.  We eliminated cultural, financial, and logistical barriers to thousands of children across San Diego County and equipped the next generation of lifeguards with the swimming skills needed to help save even more lives.

Our many accomplishments were made possible through a multisectoral effort and the continued support of those who donated, volunteered, and helped to share their knowledge of water safety education with others.  For everything you do for the PDFSD, I say thank you!

I hope you have a safe, happy, and wonderful holiday season and find time to relax, share gratitude, and create moments of joy with your loved ones.

Sincerely,

Nicole McNeil
