Are you interested in doing something adventurous while supporting a life saving cause for youth in the local San Diego community? On Monday, August 7, 2023, the public is invited to join the Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego (PDFSD) and the San Diego Junior Lifeguards (SDJG) for the annual Ocean Beach Pier Jump. Thanks to the OB Pier reopening last weekend, this annual tradition that started over 30 years ago will continue.
“We are thrilled to have the Ocean Beach Pier open and to continue this special event for the San Diego Junior Lifeguards and the Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego. The funding from this event is extremely important to our community. The proceeds allow us to provide JG scholarships and access to swimming lessons in communities of concern throughout San Diego,” said Nicole McNeil, President of the PDFSD. “This allows life skill opportunities for kids who wouldn’t normally have an opportunity to learn how to swim, become a junior lifeguard, and prepare for a future career as a lifeguard or swim instructor.”
Event details:
Join PDFSD as they support the SDJG’s and host their largest fundraiser of the year. This is a fundraiser and the ONLY TIME jumping from the Ocean Beach pier is allowed. Space is limited to the first 100 people (18+ older) for each jump session (8:00am and 12:00pm).
Proceeds from this event benefit the PDFSD efforts to provide SDJG scholarships and free swimming lessons for youth without access in San Diego. In 2022, PDFSD funded over 26 grants with over 8,000 youth participants throughout San Diego County. This includes water safety swim programs at over 26 schools and providing all of the SDJG Scholarships.
