This summer, the Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego had the honor of joining Family Safety Day: Hangin’ with Heroes—a community event dedicated to fun, learning, and lifesaving safety tips. Families from all over San Diego came together to meet local heroes, from firefighters and police officers to lifeguards and community organizations.
At our table, kids had the chance to meet Josh the Otter, who shared his famous water safety message: “I promise to get an adult when I go near the water.” Josh was a crowd favorite, helping children and parents alike remember the importance of swim safety in a fun, memorable way.
From big smiles to valuable conversations, it was a day full of connection and community spirit. We’re so grateful to everyone who stopped by to say hello, take photos, and pledge to be safer around water.
A huge thank-you to the event organizers and all the families who made Family Safety Day such a success. Together, we’re building a safer San Diego, one splash at a time.
